To successfully compete in Australia’s Internationally renowned Bridgestone World Solar Challenge event from Darwin to Adelaide through the gruelling Aussie outback.
Our team for the project will be drawn from tertiary students and High School students with an emphasis on the development of the necessary skills to design and build a new, lightweight, aerodynamic and energy efficient solar powered vehicle.
Students will also be assisted in the development of strategies and teamwork, as well as to prepare for the daunting task of driving the solar vehicle from Darwin to Adelaide, an adventure of 3000 kilometres of remote outback roads, in the required time frame.
The pictures below show the progress we are making in various aspects of the design and construction of our new, lightweight and aerodynamic solar vehicle, which will be competing in the Challenge Class of the International World Solar Challenge.
SASVA was formed late in 2020 by formal membership of 20+ people from diverse backgrounds and ages. This includes people with 20yrs experience in solar vehicle building and training of young people. We encompass industry figures, teachers, students, apprentices and graduates with diverse trade and engineering expertise.
It is the unswerving commitment of the solar vehicle team to renewable energy and Sustainability, which has been responsible for pushing the message of a greener future to the wider Australian community

The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge is a two year cycle culminating with the
October Challenge from Darwin to Adelaide in the uneven years (ie 2023, 2025)
“Naming rights sponsorship” is for calendar years 2024 and 2025. All our communications, media and publicity will refer to the “(naming rights sponsor) solar car”. There is only one sponsor at this level.
