Our Foundations
SASVA formed in late 2020 as a volunteer-led South Australian association. Its project can bring together adult industry professionals, educators, learners, apprentices, graduates, tradespeople, makers, and engineering contributors around one practical theme: Design · Build · Challenge.
SASVA's longer-term aspiration is to help the community explore practical sustainable transport technologies through Adventure Engineering. Youth engagement remains a future, safety-gated proposal.
Our Six Aims
Build
Design, construct, document and test a solar vehicle through practical engineering and trade work.
Learning
Explore future learning opportunities. Current public membership expressions of interest are adult-only, and no training or mentoring placement is promised.
Teamwork
Support adult collaboration across engineering, trades, operations, media and administration after roles and safety requirements are confirmed.
Challenge
Explore possible future national or international solar vehicle participation only when an entry and related arrangements are confirmed.
Environment
Demonstrate the viability of practical sustainable transport technologies and inspire environmental responsibility through adventure and engineering.
Improve
Develop solar vehicle systems through practical problem-solving, careful documentation, testing and iterative improvement.
Who We Are
SASVA's project can involve adult educators, engineers, tradespeople, learners, administrators, designers and other volunteers from across South Australia.
Adults aged 18 or older may submit a non-binding expression of interest. Submission does not guarantee membership, a role, training, mentoring or access to a workshop or activity.
Under-18 participation is not currently confirmed. Before any youth activity can be offered, SASVA must appoint a named youth-safety owner and approve supervision, Working With Children Check requirements, guardian consent, emergency arrangements, safety controls and any required PPE.
